Mice

Notes

MOUSE (Mus musculus)
Physiologic parameters:
Body temperature = 36.5-38.0oC (97.7-100.4oF)
Heart rate = 325-780/min
Respiratory rate = 94-163/min
Tidal volume = 0.09-0.23 ml

  • Loss of toe pinch or pedal withdrawal reflex indicates surgical anesthesia.
  • Hypothermia is a major problem in anesthetized mice and must be controlled. Do not allow mice to get wet, e.g. drenched with surgical scrub solutions. Do not shave off more hair than necessary for the surgical procedure.
