NIH-funded Research Training Programs

Application Process & Trainee Selection

  • Everyone who applies to STAR automatically applies for the T35 program.
  • All STAR applications are reviewed and scored by the Research Funding Committee at Loyola. Top scoring applications that meet the goals of the program will be selected.

I want to be a NIH-T35 trainee! What can I do?

  • Select a summer research project involving heart, lung, blood or immunology / infectious disease.
  • When selecting a mentor, tell the faculty member you are interested in a project involving heart, lung, blood or immunology / infectious disease so you can participate in the T35 program. Download a list of T35 mentors.
  • Refer to the area of research in the title of your project. This lets us to know your project qualifies for one of the T35 programs!
  • Write a strong STAR application. Have your mentor review your application prior to submission.

Questions regarding trainee benefits should be directed to Kim Foreman, PhD.
