Whether you are Roman Catholic or practice another faith tradition, all members of the Loyola Health Sciences Division community are invited to these communal celebrations of prayer and blessing.

Daily and Weekly Mass
The Eucharist is celebrated on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 12:00 p.m. in Galvin Chapel, located in the lower level of Loyola University Medical Center, one floor below the gift shop.

Other Masses are periodically offered for Holy Days or other special occasions, and are posted in the Ministry office, Room 270.

If you are new to the area and would like assistance connecting to a local parish, church congregation, or other type of religious community, please stop by University Ministry and speak with one of our staff members. We are happy to provide you with resources and contacts and to talk with you about your spiritual needs!

Family Mass
Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 9:00 a.m., Quiet Study Room
(next to the Information Commons)
Celebrated during Family Weekend and held just before White Coat Ceremony, this Mass is a great way to introduce your family and friends to the Stritch community.  Students and families of all faith traditions are welcome, as this is a moment for our entire community to come together and share in our Jesuit Catholic tradition and shared values of contemplation and community.

Mass of the Holy Spirit
Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 12:00 p.m., Cuneo Center Atrium

A 400-year-old Jesuit tradition of celebrating the beginning of the academic year, this liturgy calls the Holy Spirit’s guidance upon our academic pursuits. The Mass of the Holy Spirit takes place each year on the Tuesday after Labor Day. The entire inter-professional HSD community is invited to this liturgical celebration and lunch!

Feast of St. Luke Celebration
Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 12:00 p.m., Cuneo Center Atrium

Saint Luke is a patron saint of physicians and surgeons and honors all healthcare providers in the Catholic tradition. The celebration of St. Luke includes a Mass which invites members of both the Health Sciences Division and Loyola Health System communities to reflect upon the calling to the medical profession.

Following the liturgy, we will award the 2017 Jack MacCarthy Service in Medicine Award at 1:00 p.m., honoring a commitment to service of under-resourced populations, inspired by Gospel values. Lunch will follow at 1:30 p.m.
