The Community and Global Health Scholars Program is an extended 5-year program for students in the Community and Global Health Honors (CGH) Program who wish to pursue rigorous independent scholarship in this interdisciplinary field.
The Scholars Program includes and builds upon the components of the CGH Honors Program, with an additional year of field experience in a low-resource setting, or the Global Health Fieldwork Fellowship.
The Fellowship year takes place in Palacios, Bolivia at the Centro Medico Susan Hou (formerly the Centro Medico Humberto Parra).
Students who complete the additional scholarly and experiential requirements of the Global Health Scholars Program graduate with an MD with Honors in Community and Global Health and the Global Health Scholar distinction.
CGH Honors students who are interested in participating in the Global Health Scholars Program apply in January of M3 year and must be in good academic standing as well as current on CGH Honors Program requirements at the time of application.
Students accepted into the program complete their Fellowship year in Bolivia between the end of M3 year and the start of M4 year.
