Loyola University Health System President and CEO Resignation

February 20, 2018

Dear Loyola Health Sciences Community,

The Loyola University Health System (LUHS) announced today that Larry Goldberg, president and CEO, has resigned to accept a position as president of Banner—University Medical Division, which operates two academic medical centers on three campuses affiliated with the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Larry will remain with the LUHS until April 13.

Larry’s departure comes at a time when the partnership between Trinity Health, LUHS, and Loyola University Chicago has never been stronger. Great progress has been made under Larry’s leadership, and we are committed to building on his many accomplishments. During his tenure, the health system developed an organization of clinical programs; instituted quality and financial reporting; recruited and developed many new clinical and administrative leaders; grew the physician and ambulatory network through over 70 affiliations with area hospitals and health systems, increasing access to inpatient and outpatient care; and modernized Maywood, Gottlieb and ambulatory facilities. He also cultivated a strong bond between the health system and Loyola University Chicago’s Health Sciences Division.

The University will work together with Trinity Health and the Loyola University Health System to find a successor and continue the tradition of excellence in clinical care. More information on an interim CEO will be forthcoming.

Larry has been a committed partner and wonderful collaborator who challenged us to think differently as we joined forces to move the health system, and health care, forward. His impact will be felt long after his departure. We wish him all the best in his new position.
