Health Sciences Town Hall Reminder; Administrative Updates

October 7, 2016

Dear Loyola Health Sciences Community,

In an effort to keep you informed about our Health Sciences Division priorities and operating objectives, I will be hosting a town hall on Wednesday, October 12 at 4 p.m. in the Center for Translational Research and Education auditorium. I will provide updates on finance, organizational changes, research operations, and more. All faculty and staff are welcome. Please submit questions ahead of time to Diane Ziomek at

In addition to our upcoming town hall, I would like to provide you with a few important administrative updates:

Clinical Research Office Medical Director
Colleen M. Fitzgerald, MD, MS, has been named the medical director for the Health Sciences Division Clinical Research Office. She will begin her new role on November 1. In the near future, we will be sending additional information about the expanded clinical research services that will unite the University and hospital functions.

Development Associate Vice President
Amy G. Day has been named Associate Vice President of Development for the Loyola University Chicago Health Sciences Division and Vice President, Development for the Loyola University Health System. She will begin on Monday, October 10. Amy will lead a newly integrated team who will raise funds for the health system and the University’s Health Sciences Division. Our integrated development team will allow us to approach donors and foundations as one Loyola to secure funding support for clinical, academic, and research programs at Loyola.

Finally, many thanks to everyone who joined us for Faculty Convocation last month. We were delighted to present Alan Wolfe, PhD, with the University-wide Faculty Member of the Year award. We also recognized Tom Gallagher, PhD, with the Graduate Faculty Member of the Year award. Click here to see photos from both the Lakeside and Health Sciences convocations.

If you did not get a chance to meet Loyola University Chicago President Dr. Jo Ann Rooney, JD, LLM, EdD, at Faculty Convocation or during her other visits to the Health Sciences Campus, I would encourage you to attend the Presidential Inauguration on Friday, November 4 at the Lake Shore Campus. A shuttle will be available from the Health Sciences Campus. Additional details about transportation are forthcoming. Click here to learn more and RSVP.

As promised, I will continue to send you frequent communications like this note and welcome your feedback. Hope to see you on October 12 at the town hall.
