Health Sciences Organizational Updates; Invite for Open Dialogue
October 12, 2015
Dear Loyola Health Sciences Community,
As we move forward in the academic year and work to enhance the success of the Health Sciences Division (HSD), we’d like to take the time to update you on recent organizational changes.
Our leaders in both academics and business are working together to build on our strong foundation in health sciences education, practice, and research. Collaboration is key within our division, the broader University community, and with our Loyola University Health System partners. With this in mind, our academic leaders are setting division goals, while the business areas provide support. Several key areas have recently evolved.
Krista Giuffi is serving as interim associate vice president for advancement, Health Sciences Division. Prior to launching a search for a new leader for advancement at HSD, we will study our current structures, in partnership with Loyola University Health System. These structures currently include two separate advancement offices and some shared advancement services. This study is being completed in collaboration with Accordant Philanthropy, a consulting firm that specializes in working with health care organizations.
Pieter de Tombe, PhD, began as the interim vice dean for research at the Stritch School of Medicine on October 1. (Should we mention the re-launch of the LUHS/LUC research committee?)
Keith Muccino, SJ, MD, associate provost educational resources, is overseeing the Health Science Library, simulation education, interprofessional education, and continuing medical education.
Human Resources is rotating staff members to the Health Sciences Campus each week. Joan Stasiak, director of human resources, is the key point of contact for our division.
As our division grows, we want to encourage open conversation. Next month, we will begin hosting “Lunches with Senior Leadership.” These small group lunches will serve as an opportunity to share your thoughts with us. The following dates have been set.
Wednesday, November 4
Friday, November 6
Tuesday, November 17
Friday, November 20
Thursday, December 10
All faculty and staff are welcome. An RSVP to Diane Ziomek at email@example.com is required.
We look forward talking with you in the months ahead – and we thank you for your commitment to Loyola University Chicago and the Health Sciences Division.
