Presentation will focus on the possibilities and practicalities of medicine in Shakespearean England, both on stage and in the streets. It will examine medicine as it is portrayed in specific Shakespeare plays, particularly as that contrasts with the realities of 16th and 17th century medical practice, recorded in the holdings of the History of Medicine Division of the National Library of Medicine.
