Angela Carrico named Interim Human Research Protections Director

January 10, 2017

Dear Colleagues,

I want to first take a moment to thank Elaine Fluder, RN, MSN, for her many years of service to Loyola and its research enterprise. Elaine’s last day was January 4.

Elaine shared her thanks in a message last week, “I am so very grateful to Loyola and the people that I have been privileged to work with over the past 30 years.  I will most surely miss all of you and wish the very best for each and every one. Until we meet again…”

Effective immediately, Angela Carrico will serve as interim human research protections director. Angela has served as the Institutional Review Board (IRB) coordinator for the past three years. Prior to Loyola, she worked at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as the IRB Manager and Lurie Children’s Hospital as Assistant Director of the IRB. She will continue to ensure that the IRB runs smoothly and with minimal interruption to the research community at Loyola.

Recruitment of a new human research protections director is underway. Kenneth Micetich, MD, will continue in his current role as IRB committee chair.

Please join me in thanking Elaine for her service and Angela for taking on her new role.

Sincerely,

Margaret Faut Callahan, CRNA, PhD, FNAP, FAAN
Provost, Health Sciences Division
